CAP Reform Coverage on the BBC Newsnight

As the debate on the CAP reform battles on between institutions and Member States, BBC journalist, Roger Harrabin has produced a short report which featured on BBC Newsnight. The footage aims to outline to the public the key issues in the CAP reform debate and communicate them in layman’s terms.

The 11 minute report discusses the need to meet food/feed/fuel production needs versus meeting environmental needs to protect our natural resources such as biodiversity, soils and water. Based on experiences in two Member States, Cyprus and Ireland, Harrabin illustrates some of the key areas of conflicts between farmers and environmentalists with a series of interviews conducted with the Irish Agriculture Minister, Mr Simon Coveney, a number of farmers and conservationists.
